Diagnostic testing Program
Dr. Valeria does a variety of testing to assess and diagnose your condition. The decision is made per individual, based on the information being of value to change your treatment in some way. She also discusses the options with you. The testing she does is based on either blood, saliva, stool or urine samples. The results come directly to the office and are discussed at a follow up visit. The following are some examples of tests she frequently utilizes:
1. Heavy metal testing is done from the urine collected over 12 to 24 hours following a chelating agent taken at bedtime the evening before. This test tells us not only the problem heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium and others it also tells us the status of your beneficial minerals such as calcium and magnesium. From this test decisions can be made on how to remove the heavy metals which can cause a wide range of problems with the cardiovascular system, lipids and immune system. Costs about $100
2. Food allergy testing is done from blood samples drawn by Sonora Quest labs and FedEx’d to the lab for assessment. Generally 150 foods are tested. Many allergens, such as pollens, are hard for us to avoid, but which foods we eat can be changed. Avoiding food allergens can make a huge difference in health and well being, especially for people with auto immune diseases such as arthritis and diabetes. Frequently people have a couple of key allergies in addition to minor ones that can be the result of a leaky gut. When they avoid them all for a period of time and the gut heals, then many of the allergies clear. Many people who have problems with weight loss are having food allergy problems. Costs about $300.
3. Neurotransmitter, mood disorder testing is a urine test. A sample is collected first thing in the morning and mailed off. The results tell the neurotransmitters which are out of range. The treatments are amino acid and herbal therapies intended to adjust the body’s production of the neurotransmitters. This is used successfully for depression, ADHD, ADD, anxiety, sleep and weight loss issues. The cost varies based on the number of neurotransmitters tested, but averages $150.
4. Hormonal assessments for pre-menopause and menopausal women using saliva and blood samples. We are better able to see through the month with saliva samples what is happening for women who are still menstruating.
5. GI Health panel for assessing heartburn, bloating, diarrhea and other digestion symptoms through saliva and stool samples for bacteria and parasites. It is a very thorough, non-invasive way to collect information about possible pathogens.
6. Thyroid panels, Lipid panels, Liver panels, Glucose tolerance testing and all of the other conventional testing is done through Sonora Quest or LabCorp. is offering a full wellness blood screen for half price of only $149.99 through Sonora Quest Labs.
