Abundant Health thru Homeopathy

What is Good Health?

How do we know if we are in good health?  If we are ill, how do we know we are moving towards health?  Sometimes when we don't feel good we can confuse the symptoms of healing with getting worse.  Our immune system has to learn how to handle a variety of illnesses to keep us healthy.  If we push it aside with antibiotics or cortisone, then the next time the problem comes up, it still doesn't know how to handle it.  Sometimes it is important to do dramatic things to help a person in trouble, but we are not making them stronger by doing it for them.  So a balance needs to be reached where we respect the body 's wisdom to heal, but also recognize when it is important to step in and help it out.
I like to use the example of the child doing homework.  If it is too much for them and so we do it for them, what have they learned?  If we can assist them in a good way to figure it out, then they can do it themselves next time.  In homeopathy we are working to help the body heal itself, not merely suppress symptoms.  We do expect the symptoms to clear up, but frequently with a discharge of some kind to remove the toxins.
If you have a cold and you take something just to dry up the runny nose, you have kept the toxins your body is trying to get rid of inside of you.  However if you can speed up the runny nose so it all runs out faster, then you help the body heal in a good way.  Using this way of thinking can help you move towards health and think differently about your symptoms.
Health on the physical level means freedom from symptoms.  This doesn't mean an absence of symptoms, but rather freedom.  Most people, even in their healthy state, will have a minor illness and pains, fleeting sensations, and noticeable changes in the way their body functions.  Freedom means feeling able to go on with their lives, even if it means taking a sick day or having a cold periodically to update their immune system.  They are able to sleep well and have good energy for their work.
Health on the emotional level is the ability to experience a range of emotions without getting stuck in any one emotional state.  Never feeling sad is more likely denial than health!  The full range of emotions is the natural human experience.
Health on the mental level is defined as selfless creativity.  Selfless means you are able to focus on whatever your work is without the intrusion of worries or thoughts about yourself.  Creativity means the ability to find new ideas, solutions, responses, or meaning within your work.  Health shows in how you work, not what you do or how well you do it.
Good health is enjoying what you do.
